Wasatch Mountains
Got into Salt Lake City around 10:30 pm Sunday March 6th, after leaving Taos that morning. Crashing with a mate for the next few days while we knock out some backcountry lines in the Wasatch.
Day 1: Big Cottonwood
Started the morning with a liter of water, a 6 pack of day old donuts, and a banana... Already sense that today is going to be a big day!
After a 7 am start, we skinned up Argenta, (above) looking into Mineral fork and finally laid eyes on the real Wasatch backcountry.
Stoked to have two veteran locals show me around such mind blowing terrain. We spent the day smashing pow and laying first tracks everywhere we went. Smashed a full lap in the Argenta slide path, then skied over to Silver Mine and laid down another 3 laps. Sending two down a series of pillow lines and open glade skiing to the valley bottom. Crossed a descent stream with dry boots; wrapping up a solid day in the hills.
After a full day on the splitboard we made a last min decision to hit Brighton for a bit of night shredding... Could not have been a better day to spend 13 hours in my boots.
Day 2: Out for the shooting gallery atop Little Cottonwood Canyon
We split up from Alta, passing a handful of the most iconic backcountry gaps ever! Moving quickly into Wolverine Cirque and all started picking lines and sending chutes for the day.
After passing these legendary spots we made our way up to Wolverine Cirque.
Making our way up the ridge.
Epic trip with phenomenal conditions. Rolling to Sun Valley Idaho tomorrow afternoon.
